No matter how beautiful is old, but everything over the years old, and time does not stand still - you want more modern planning and design. But the authors of this story proved that even a centenary can be turned into a modern cottage.
Ten years ago we bought a house in the village in the Vologda region. The village stands on the Volga-Dvinsky Canal, near the wonderful places - the Ferapontov monastery with the world-famous frescoes Dionysius, Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, White Lake, Sheksna River. Beauty circle indescribable!

How it was
Issue of our at least one hundred years. At first, seventy years stood in one village, then - thirty years old at this place. Our house then is a hollow of three windows around the facade, unlike the village house-five-rank with five windows. It is built in the northern style: everything is under the same roof. Residential part: one large room, where the kitchen is highlighted by a partial partition. The lower barn was filled with firewood, in the upper shed dried vegetables, herbs, a different inventory was stored.
I have a well at home and bathhouse near the river. 10 acres of land: to the apple tree, 4-currants raspberries and flowers. They came to the village from the Kola Peninsula 1-2 times a year and a half or two months. How they could, took care of the house. But time does its job: lining, which was lined with a house, blackened roof sprung a leak in some places, chimneys and flues are clogged, the rear extension settled. And indeed the hut leaned slightly to one side. Our hut is clearly in need of repair.
Pillars and columns
We started to prepare for this important cause gradually. First, in the same year as advised by locals to buy a large part of the materials: boards, planks, beams, joists. All neatly laid and covered up with roofing material and on top of crushed slate and old bricks. It is necessary because the tree to lie down, dry.
At the same time and brought to fence posts. However, with pillars left a funny incident. Ordered forty columns for the fence, and brought the forty-six-meter pole with koroy- as it turned out, "podtovarnikah" called. The whole village of these pillars could fence! And how we cleaned the crust ...
But in the end it all works joyful: for business, for itself.

In the old days, both living
Home renovation started without us, all organized izderevni neighbors. Amazing people! But that is another story. So, our wonderful neighbors found clever, knowledgeable masters from the district center. Master immediately began repairs. First of all, a chainsaw just cut off the back part of the building -Lower and upper sheds. Of course, it was a pity antiquity! .. And we, the owners, and even the repair of heart ache the organizers when the cut at home as on the living. Then the master took off the old bunk. Centenarian logs basically just turned black! Then the house was leveled, lower rotten logs are replaced. "It is necessary now as a Footprint" - says Fellow villagers, when we call to Murmansk. Masters of neatly and disputes sheathed house new, half wet clapboard. Behind the hut was attached to the foundation of the brick pillars of the new extension instead of the old upper and lower sheds: although not a log and plank.
Pit latrines in the house have decided to do more - because the cottage in a new way!
In our sketch the builders gathered home side sundeck - our long-cherished dream. Before tinkering veranda we all thoroughly vymeryat, several options have thought. And that was a lot of sun, and the wind is not blowing in the back, and the porch was a convenient, wide ... The result was just a wonderful outdoor patio!

Painted wood
Coloring house steel. As for the paint, they solved long, in disputes and thoughts. I really did not want to paint the wood paint texture of the tree. In the end, they agreed on the Aquatex antiseptic paint (color "pine"). After dyeing, the texture of the tree remains and a very pleasant yellow shade. Started from the back wall of the house to check how paint lies.
They painted only with a brush, since, firstly, there are no skips (the lining was not embedded, but the brass), and secondly, the paint consumption is less than if the roller is operated.
In 5 days, the house was painted on one layer. In no hurry, worked only in dry days. On the second - they were filled with the lining only on nizam, to the level of snowdrifts in winter. Izba played! The idea that there is nothing better than oil paints, immediately changed. Although doubt - will darken the lining or not, it still remains. The masters assure that nothing clap will be done, aquatex is a reliable means. Let's see.
