Recently, many amateur gardeners began to neglect the whitewash trees. And, as the experience suggests, in vain. Garden crops growing in cramped and wet conditions especially need it.
In the fall, I pay a lot of attention to the garden hygiene and plot. I spend the general cleaning, I clean the summer trash and prepare the plants by winter. All the trees arrange a whitewash. To do this, I am preparing such a mixture: 4 parts of clay, 1 part of ash and fresh cowboat, half a cup of urea and several microelenguage-hearted tablets in a bucket of water to the consistency of liquid sour cream. Such whitewings stays long and breathing well. Wet during the rain, it gives nutrients to the crust and prevents pest penetrations and disease pathogens.
I noticed that at the end of the summer and the beginning of the fall, the pests simply resist the bark of trees. Therefore, be sure to keep it to be smooth and clean. Often there are lichens, damage from them, of course, no, but the appearance of the tree will deteriorate. Therefore, I clean lichens. To clean the cortex, it is prepared for a solution: on the water bucket - 2.5 kg of ash, 1 kg of salts, 2 pieces of economic soap. All components dissolve in water and bring to a boil. The solution is cooling and kneading the bark - lichens disappear.
It happens that in the fall there is so much affairs that the hands do not reach the whims. And then I definitely do it in February, when suitable warm days will appear, as a last resort in March, this is the last term. The garden is waiting for help from us. The destruction of leaves and plant residues deprives pests in wintering. Timely whitewashed, cleaning straps is the key to a healthy garden. And he, in turn, thanks us a good harvest.
The whitening of trunks and skeletal branches protects the tree from solar burns, frostbite, pests and diseases. This effect is achieved by the ability to reflect the sun's rays and protect against hypothermia. However, the trees that have not yet entered the course of fruiting, it is impossible to beat. Such a procedure clogs the pores of the crust, which worsens gas exchange and inhibits the development of the plant.
