About 12 years ago, a friend simply imposed me a few grape cuttings. On the plot, I had an apple tree, pears, cherries, raspberries, currants - that is, a garden "dacket kit". Grapes did not suggested - this culture seemed to me too complicated in our climate.
In the first year, he did not care for the newest residents of their plot: watered and fed with mineral fertilizer at the same time with other plants. But by the fall, thin sticks with a pair of leaves on the top grown significantly - up to 1 m high (tied them to support-stakes).
For the winter, the support was removed, the vines squeezed, sketched on top of the huskien and snow. The next year the plants continued to gain a mass, and when they were 2 years old, they could already be called the proud word "grapes". On each bush was 1 strong all-insulated vine and, naturally, shoots. The vine for the winter cut off, leaving 12 eyes (and did the right thing, because in the frost survived).
In the spring of the eyes began to grow shoot, and when inflorescences were formed on them, 1 escape left, and the rest deleted. At the same time, several shoots have also grown up from the ground. I cut them out, leaving 2 lower ones. The following year, these shoots turned into vines and have already given a harvest.
In the fall, an old wearing a lined vine cut out - after all, on each bush, I already had 2 young. The trimming procedure repeated (on new vines left 12 eyes) and sent grapes into the shelter. For 5 years, the bushes even increased, leaving in the fall on 1 young vine more. Now only every year partially replacing old vines to new ones. As a result, bushes were formed, more resembling currant bushes or gooseberry. Especially the similarity is great in the fall, when I cut off the brutal and unbearable shoots.
Recently learned that this method of forming a grape bush is called multicast. It is suitable for me that everything is enough simply, does not require special knowledge and skills, as well as time.
