Despite our age, we grow vegetables, berries, fruits. Of course, children help us: daughter with son-in-law and granddaughter. We have two greenhouses. Growing a lot of things: cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, Physalis ... In short, do not list everything. There is a small kindergarten, where the honeysuckle grows, black-like rowan, different currant, raspberry. But special honor and respect we use Kalina red. I look at her in the spring when she blooms, or in the fall - all in the scarlet bunches, and the heart sings: "... and love does not pass, no!"
It grows on the northeast side of the house. It's not terrible, neither shadow nor the heat nor the most juicy frosts. Flowers in May-June, and matures in August-September.
Fruits juicy, red. Binding and acid disappear with the first frosts, berries become sweet.

Spreading Kalina by seeds and green cuttings. Seeds in the fall, I spread in Malinnik, and they spare in the spring. Green shoots in the 3-4th decade of June. Cutting a sharp knife. In our family, Kalina is the first remedy for a cold. Juice or decoction of berries drink with honey. The effect is awesome. In addition, viburnum helps very help with different skin and gastric diseases, as well as at elevated pressure. So the medications are almost not accepted. After all, in the berries Kalina - a whole pharmacy. It contains sugar, organic acids, pectins, tanning substances, carotene, vitamin C and R. and vitamin C is more than in any citrus.
By the way, Kalina is very well stored literally until spring without special conditions. Most of the crop we put on the attic, hold a little in the house or leave right on the plot.
And yet, to be honest, I love Kalina more for beauty and I think it is its main advantage.
Kalina red or yellow?
For more than 10 years, two bushes of viburnum have been growing at my summer cottage - red and yellow. These bushes attract and make eyes with their leaves, flowers and especially fruits. And if you leave the berries in the winter, they are bangible until the spring. I give greater preference to yellow viburnum. Sheer is larger and juicy.
Now I advise it to plant it. Do not regret, take the place on your site and put the saplings of viburnum yellow and red together in a pre-prepared yammer.
But if they give the will, they can grow in a height of more than 5 m. But I do not admit it, cut off annually and allow you to grow no higher than 3 meters. In this case, the crown shaped in a spherical form. Inside the ball leave emptiness. I cut all small and thin twigs. Wounds from trimming are well overgrown. Due to the trimming of the brush and fruits become larger and more attractive. The rolling circle within a meter is well mulch.
Keep in mind: Kalina loves moisture and is not afraid of the convergence. It grows with us not far from the place where we take water.
