For more than ten years, this interesting shrub is growing in my garden - hybrid of currant and gooseberry. When I start talking about Yoshta, everyone is argued with his hands - they say, they saw - and describe me ... Currant Golden, which else I.V. Michurin introduced into the culture. Yes, the currant is golden and yo-shta leaves are similar to the leaves of the gooseberry, they are also matte, and the currants are shiny. Currant gold blooms with bright yellow flowers, yoshta flowers are green.
They differ and the shape of the bush, and berries. In general, these are two different cultures, only Yoshta has not yet frequent guests in our gardens, but sorry.
This plant appeared with us thanks to breeders in the late 50s of the last century. The first such hybrid appeared in Germany and got its name from the first letters of the German words "Smorodin" and "Gooseberry" - Yosta.
Our family of Yoshta came to the soul. The pensioner Father, without being causing Lukovo, calls the shrub "Ezhe", and all summer is happy to eat only these delicious berries, they do not inferior or currant or gooseberry in their qualities. In size, they are larger than currant berries, but at the same time smaller than the root varieties of the gooseberry.
Flavor at yoshta berries Original, sour-sweet, according to the consistency, they resemble the gooseberry, and to taste, currants, but without a currant fragrance. The berries are firmly held on the stem, during maturation they do not appear, so the consumption period is more than a month. From berries, cook compotes, jams, jelly, frozen.
Yoshta is a garden decoration. Imagine: a huge bush of 1.7-1.8 m high and the same diameter, in shape resembling a gooseberry bush, without spikes, densely covered with dark berries collected in small brushes. For 10 years, the plant never frozen, and each year the stems are literally breaking away from berries.
