I try to keep the bed in order, weeding the weeds on time so that they do not take nutrients and moisture in the sunflowers. At the same time, the land loosen: this plant loves loose soil.

When the inflorescences starts, you need to leave one, the largest basket (it is at the top of the stem), and those that have grown on the side shoots, delete. In this case, the inflorescence will be large as seeds.

When the seeds begin to sleep, wait for the invasions of the birds. But this is also not a problem. To scare the feathers, I used my own scarecrow, on which rusting ribbons were mounted. You can do differently: to tie the baskets of gauze or light cloth. I used old brazers, shirts, etc.
